sidniezine: Issue One

Happy Birthday To Me!

Welcome to sidniezine, an annual zine publication of all things Sidnie. I got the idea a few weeks before my 21st birthday after I had the urge to create something that was just for me. Not something to be graded, workshoped, published, or critiqued by others. I wanted to make something I would enjoy every moment of, from the planning to the design, writing, and publication; I didn’t want to have to worry about what anyone would think of. After a quick brainstorm, I decided to put my new DIY publishing skills to work, and voila, sidniezine was born!

The goal is that each year, I’ll make a zine for each birthday and document my creative life as I get older. Even if I don’t end up doing that, it was fun to make it just this once. I felt a little like a kid again, making what I wanted, when I wanted, how I wanted. I would say I hope you enjoy it, but that’s not really my priority. Remember, this is sidniezine, not aries-xreaderzine.

Though I made this for myself, it’s still a zine, which means it’s meant to be shared, copied, and traded. If you end up resonating with anything in the zine, I encourage you to send the link to a friend. Or, if you’re more of an analog person, I’ll include the PDF link so you can print it out and pass it along in its intended format.
